Are you a Christian whose faith has evolved?

Have you found yourself asking questions about Christianity and then feeling lonely and isolated because, “Bad Christian! You’re not supposed to do that!”?

Do you feel confused at all the Christianeze out there, telling you what you should believe and what your job in this world ought to be? Are you having trouble sorting through it all?

Have you found yourself very happily not fitting in with Christian fundamentalism anymore but also not really fitting in anywhere else along the Christian spectrum? Because you’re different like that and you still have lots and lots of questions...

Are you a parent who, now that your faith has opened itself up to scrutiny and begun to evolve, doesn’t know exactly how to raise your children? Or perhaps you’re not a parent, but a concerned caregiver. How do faith-questioners dialogue with those little ones about faith, life, love and the pursuit of justice?

Do you wonder what it means to be a citizen of this world who is also a person of faith? How does that play out practically?

If you find yourself nodding your head to the beat of these questions, then, hey there! You must be kind of like me.

My name is Carissa, pronounced ca-REE-sa, and I live in North Texas with my husband, three kids, two dogs and a rabbit.

I am one of those people who has spent most of my life on the move, bopping around between South and North America. Moving has defined my internal life as well, though it has felt less like bopping and more like a slow and steady train ride with some major and minor hiccups.

Indeed, I have come into a version of Christianity that is less regimented and more open, inclusive and mysterious.

And I’m looking out these faith-train windows as I sway and glide along and seeing more love and joy and freedom than I ever could have imagined. It is almost too much to take in. It’s as overwhelming and confusing as it is wonderful.

Now, I know you’re somewhere else on this train, riding along with me, filled with the same wonder and curiosity, hoping there’s someone like you somewhere in here.

As the train rounds a corner, I clear some of the morning fog off my window and wave: I’m here! Right here! Can you see me? Want to come over to my car, join me on the ride? I’m sure we have lots to talk about.

And friend? When you find me, be sure and leave a comment on my posts or on my Facebook page here, sharing your thoughts, experiences and insights. I’m so happy you joined me for the ride, and I can’t wait to talk.
