So, my name is Carissa, pronounced Ca-REE-sa...

And, hey! I'm excited you're paying me a visit. If you have a childlike curiosity about, well, everything, and a passion for the written word, carefully crafted, then you and I have a lot in common.

I am not too old... but also not so young, I think artists become "great" without first becoming pupils of their crafts. And, I figure, if I'm going to be learning about writing, why not share my gleanings with you?

You see, I am on a quest to become a memorable writer, and quests are the most fun, in my opinion, when they are shared with others.

Oh wait! A little about me. I am a mother to three beautiful children, married to a wonderfully sensitive and creative guy. I homeschool my little ones because I'm a tad "hippie" and do life differently.

In a past life, I taught fifth grade. My children and my students would tell you I love books and am constantly reading. I enjoy creativity, new hobbies and cooking. You should also know I love nature. Having grown up in the Venezuelan rainforest, I played outside all day every day.

My perspective on life and culture and religion is a little quirky, unique and most definitely un-boxable. I am passionate about standing up for the lonely forgotten, speaking out against injustice, and using my writing to make this world a better place.

By now, you've probably also caught on to the fact I love creative writing. I occasionally pen poetry and short stories. Check them out; my hope is they bring a little sunshine to your day.

Thanks for stopping by, and I look forward to hearing from you!
